UPDATE YOUR EVENING LOOK
“A rich red lip worn with perfected skin and minimal mascara feels modern,” says Chanel makeup artist Rachel Goodwin. Prevent deep shades from bleeding into the fine lines around your mouth by first outlining and filling in lips with a red pencil. “It will add life to your dark lip color and reduce feathering,” promises Goodwin. For just the right amount of shine, apply gloss to the center of your upper lip only, and then gently press lips together. As your mouth is the focus, balance the rest of your face by highlighting your skin with an illuminating primer, and conceal imperfections with foundation. Last step: Open your eyes with black mascara and a neutral shadow.
“A hint of sheen adds a festive feel to a traditional smoky brown eye,” says celebrity makeup artist Nick Barose. “Avoid shadows that are too matte, since they are less dressy and more office appropriate.” Line your upper and lower lash lines with pencil, then smudge brown shadow on your eyelids and lightly under your lower lashes. Next, dab a reflective golden shade in the center of your upper lids to create dimension. Follow with black mascara, rosy blush, and swipe of nude lipstick.
